Nearly 60% of Hoosiers have engaged in entrepreneurship; more than 12% are business owners, according to new survey

INDIANAPOLIS (June 27, 2023) – New research from NORC at the University of Chicago finds that more than half of all Hoosiers have participated in at least one entrepreneurial activity, which includes involvement in or steps toward business ownership or freelancing. However, the survey shows that current business planners and other potential entrepreneurs could benefit from more resources and support. The data comes from Entrepreneurship in the Population: Indiana (EPOP-IN), a survey commissioned by the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP). “A thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem is a critical part of having a dynamic economy. Purdue University and Indiana University Officially Split IUPUI

(Photo courtesy: Purdue University) On June 14, 2023, Purdue University trustees and Indiana University trustees simultaneously approved the agreements that will effectively dissolve Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) on June 30, 2024. At the same time, Purdue University established Purdue University in Indianapolis, that will consist of multiple locations around the city providing degrees from Purdue University West Lafayette. The urban campus will assume responsibility for the existing engineering, computer science and technology programs at IUPUI. Purdue also plans to grow several other colleges and departments in Indianapolis including the Daniels School of Business, Pharmacy, Health and Human Sciences, Science and Agriculture. INDIANAPOLIS (May 4, 2023) – The Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), which brings together the chief executives of the region’s prominent corporations, foundations and universities, has named a new chair of the board of directors and new executive committee members for 2023. Sue Ellspermann, president of Ivy Tech Community College, was elected chair of the board of directors at the April board meeting. CICP releases 2022 annual report

CICP has released its 2022 annual report, marking a year of significant change for the organization. CICP marked many milestones including a transition of leadership. After ten years at the helm of CICP, David L. Johnson retired at the end of the year. Named as his successor was former Cummins executive Melina Kennedy. She assumed the role of CEO while Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Latoya Botteron was promoted to president. She also retained her role as CFO.
