Ascend Indiana announces youth apprenticeship awards to establish a network of postsecondary career pathways for students in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 29, 2021) – Ascend Indiana, the talent and workforce development initiative of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), has announced awards of $115,000 each to bolster three regional youth apprenticeship efforts in Indiana. Through generous support from Bloomberg Philanthropies, Ascend is working alongside the Partnership to Advance Youth Apprenticeship (PAYA) at New America to provide awards and technical support through the Indiana Youth Apprenticeship Accelerator (Accelerator) initiative. PAYA is a national consortium of organizations supporting states and cities in their efforts to expand access to high-quality apprenticeship opportunities for high school-aged youth. Make & Move Up brings training and careers to northeast side of Indianapolis, builds local workforce

INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 9, 2021) – Conexus Indiana is partnering with Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana to bring jobs, career training and economic development to Indianapolis’ northeast side. The Make & Move Up program will provide residents with paid training in advanced manufacturing and logistics (AML), preparing up to 50 residents with the skills to succeed in their careers. The training program, called Catapult Indiana, is possible through a $200,000 philanthropic investment from JPMorgan Chase, and it aligns with the community collaboration between Goodwill, Cook Medical and the United Northeast Community Development Corporation. INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 9, 2021) – The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC), in partnership with Conexus Indiana, announced the fourth round of awards totaling more than $2.8 million to 34 Indiana businesses in Manufacturing Readiness Grants to support a projected $17.4 million in technology-based capital investment in Indiana. New report highlights outsized impact of healthcare and life sciences sector in Central Indiana

Over the past year, the global pandemic has challenged us in ways that we did not think possible. For Black people and other communities of color, those challenges have been heightened by preexisting racial disparities and inequities. For others, these compounding issues have created a call for meaningful action and immediate progress toward racial equity. Businesses are stepping up with a strengthened commitment to make concrete changes to the way they do business in an effort to advance racial equity around our region.
