Ascend Indiana and EmployIndy receive a $6 million grant to scale Modern Youth Apprenticeship for high school students in Central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (June 28, 2022) – Ascend Indiana, the talent and workforce development initiative of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), and EmployIndy, Marion County’s workforce development board, have received $6 million for three years from the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation to support the scaling of Modern Youth Apprenticeship (MAP) in Marion County. In addition, the grant will help to enhance the connection between employers and education providers to enable expansion of youth career pathways in the state. MAP is a three-year work-based learning experience starting in high school that combines paid employment, on-the-job learning, related academics, aligned college credit, and industry-recognized credentials. Ascend will receive $4 million to provide project oversight and systems leadership. INDIANAPOLIS (June 27, 2022) –The Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) today announced that President and CEO David L. Johnson will retire from his leadership responsibilities at the end of 2022. 2022 marks the tenth year that Johnson has led the organization. He previously served as one of the founders and as the president and CEO of CICP’s life sciences initiative, BioCrossroads – a role he held from 2005 to 2019. Johnson’s ideas, leadership and tireless efforts, both publicly and behind the scenes, have encouraged the vitality of the Indianapolis region and the state. State invests in future, modernization of Indiana manufacturing operations through next round of Readiness Grants

INDIANAPOLIS (June 20, 2022) – The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC), in partnership with Conexus Indiana, announced the sixth round of awards totaling nearly $4 million in Manufacturing Readiness Grants to 43 Indiana businesses, supporting a projected $46.1 million in technology-enabled capital investment across Indiana. “Manufacturing is in Indiana’s DNA—we build things,” said Governor Eric J. INDIANAPOLIS (May 24, 2022) — TechPoint, Indiana’s nonprofit, industry-led, tech ecosystem growth initiative, is encouraging Hoosier tech employers to rethink their job descriptions and to not require bachelor’s degrees for jobs that don’t need them but instead focus on credentials, skills and experience. Not making those changes will mean employers will continue to exclude more than 70 percent of Hoosiers from being considered for tech jobs, studies show. To help employers make this change, TechPoint has created the Job Description Playbook: Inclusive, Skills-Based Listings and the Tech Career Pathways and Competency Maps, which are both free. Governor’s Workforce Cabinet awards nearly $500,000 for high school advanced manufacturing programs

INDIANAPOLIS (May 18, 2022) The Governor’s Workforce Cabinet has awarded 6 high schools and career centers with an Education Readiness Grant. The new grant program is offered in partnership with Conexus Indiana and will support recipients in preparing students for careers in the increasingly high-tech advanced manufacturing industry. The Cabinet awarded a total of $493,397.
