The Indiana Latino Institute collaborates with Ascend Indiana to provide students access to internship search

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Indiana Latino Institute (ILI) has formed a collaboration with Ascend Indiana to help connect students to good and promising internship opportunities in Indiana. Ascend, an Indiana nonprofit organization, helps to connect students to internships and careers through the Ascend Network, a web-based platform, that matches a student’s skills and interests with the best Indiana career opportunities. By signing up for the Network, ILI students have access to more than 750 Indiana employers and receive support through the Network from the ILI team. Since its inception in 2016, Ascend has connected more than 5,000 Hoosiers with jobs, internships and training opportunities in all sectors across the state. Ascend Indiana awards $700,000 to four regional sites to pilot youth apprenticeship programs in local communities

INDIANAPOLIS – Ascend Indiana, the talent and workforce development initiative of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), announced today the award of $175,000 each to four sites to launch youth apprenticeship pilots in their local communities. Funding for these pilot programs comes from the generous support of the Walton Family Foundation and is administered by Ascend Indiana through the CICP Foundation. The four sites, located in Southern, East Central and West Central Indiana, serve 29 counties and include: Eastern Indiana Works (Muncie, Ind.) + East Central Education Service Center (New Castle, Ind.), Southern Indiana Education Center (Jasper, Ind.), Southern Indiana Works (New Albany, Ind.), and West Central Indiana Career and Technical Education Center (Crawfordsville, Ind.). INDIANAPOLIS - Ascend Indiana, the talent and workforce development initiative of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), announced today three new members to its Board of Directors. Andrew Ball, co-CEO of West Lafayette, Ind.-based Henriott Group, and Teresa Wade, founder and owner of CFA Staffing, have joined the 32-member Ascend Indiana Board of Directors. Ascend Indiana President and CEO Brad Rhorer was on Capitol Hill this week to speak before the subcommittee for the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. Rhorer testified on the value of youth apprenticeship and highlighted the progress Indiana has made in serving youth in apprenticeship experiences. U.S. Senator John Hickenlooper from Colorado chairs the subcommittee and Indiana Senator Mike Braun is a ranking member on the subcommittee. Indiana leaders form coalition to build, grow youth apprenticeship

Business, education, government and philanthropic leaders join forces to help solve workforce development crisis INDIANAPOLIS – More than 100 Indiana leaders, including corporate CEOs, university presidents, K-12 superintendents and state government officials, have joined a coalition to develop a statewide modern youth apprenticeship system in Indiana as one potential solution to the state’s mounting workforce crisis. The group recently kicked off a 10-month Implementation Lab (referred to as an iLab), an intensive collaborative that will result in a comprehensive, statewide plan to increase the number of available modern youth apprenticeships. The youth apprenticeship model allows 11th grade high school students to participate in a three-year, paid work-and-learn program. The apprenticeship culminates in a high school diploma, college credit and an industry credential, while at the same time preparing students for in-demand careers. Ascend Indiana names new President and CEO and New Board Chair

INDIANAPOLIS – The Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) and Ascend Indiana announce that Conexus Indiana COO and Chief Talent Officer Brad Rhorer has been named president and CEO of Ascend Indiana, CICP’s talent and workforce development initiative, and will succeed Jason Kloth in January. Concurrently, Board Vice Chair Bridget Boyle, head of people and culture for Roche Diagnostics, has been named chair of the Ascend Board of Directors, succeeding founding chair Mark Hill, who will step down at the beginning of the year. In October, Ascend Indiana announced that President and CEO Jason Kloth would step down on January 1, 2024.
