TechPoint launches $250,000 S.O.S. Challenge for 500 students who lost summer internships due to COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS (May 27, 2020) — Thousands of college students from across the U.S. have lost on-site summer internships due to COVID-19, but 500 of those college students from Indiana are getting some help thanks to a new challenge being launched by TechPoint, Indiana’s industry-led, nonprofit tech sector growth initiative. The Summer Opportunities for Students (S.O.S.) Challenge will provide up to 500 students from Indiana colleges and universities a five-week summer experience, helping them strengthen their resumes, demonstrate skills, and make professional connections. Students will work in teams on a COVID-related challenge. Additionally, each student who completes the program will receive a $500 stipend, plus a chance at additional prizes. The student teams will be assigned “coaches” from a pool of 200 volunteers from the Indiana tech community. INDIANAPOLIS (Feb. 11, 2020) — TechPoint, the nonprofit, industry-led growth initiative for Indiana’s technology ecosystem, announced the nominees for its 21st annual Mira Awards presented by Eli Lilly and Company, Raytheon and Salesforce. The Mira Awards is the state’s largest and longest-running technology excellence and innovation recognition program, and the annual gala celebrates the ‘The Best of Tech in Indiana’. Investments in Indiana tech companies increased by triple digits in 2019

INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 14, 2020) – Indiana’s tech ecosystem ended 2019 with one of the best years in the history of the state, with total 2019 venture capital (VC) and other types of funding investments, increasing 260 percent over 2018, according to TechPoint, Indiana’s non-profit tech growth accelerator, which tracked the economic information via publicly available announcements. In 2019, 62 Indiana tech companies publicly announced VC investments, grant funding, M&A deals, private equity and debt financing for total investments of more than $358 million. According to the data, 2019’s fourth quarter included 12 VC raises and three grants for more than $151 million (at least two shared investments did not include dollar amounts raised). The fourth quarter total was higher than all four quarters of investment combined in 2018. Additionally, TechPoint tracked 33 mergers and acquisitions within the tech sector in 2019. [...]

IIB: Tech Sector Rolls Out Red Carpet for Talent

Earlier this year, TechPoint, the tech initiative of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, partnered with TMAP LLC to launch the "Wish You Were Here" campaign in an effort to bring former Hoosiers currently working out of state back to Indiana. TechPoint President and CEO Mike Langellier said they had hoped to attract 100-150 applicants but ended up with nearly 400 from across the country. Nearly 30 applicants were chosen to come to Indianapolis for a weekend in early October to learn about the tech community, which also included a red carpet experience. TechPoint wins national award for initiative that helps fill in-demand tech jobs

INDIANAPOLIS – August 5, 2019 – TechPoint, Indiana’s tech ecosystem growth accelerator, won the inaugural Talent Pipeline & Workforce Innovation Award at the Technology Councils of North America (TECNA) summer conference. TECNA represents about 50 IT and Technology trade organizations that, in turn, represent more than 22,000 technology-related companies in North America. TechPoint won the award for its Jobs in Tech 101 product. Launched in October 2018, Jobs in Tech 101 educates and informs students and career changers about which jobs exist in tech, what they are like, and what skills and experience are required.
