INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 23, 2019) – Conexus Indiana today announced the launch of a year-long speaker series focused on technology’s impact on advanced manufacturing and logistics. The series, Movers, Makers and Mixers, will be making stops in Indianapolis, Bloomington, Lafayette, Terre Haute, Evansville, and South Bend over the course of the year.
Geared toward college students and young professionals, the events will explore how Industry 4.0 – or the fourth industrial revolution – is transforming how we make and move goods in Indiana. Each event will feature a speaker who expands the breadth of what it means to be a manufacturer or highlights the evolving role that advanced technologies, including automation, electrification, the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence, play in the industry.
“Helping young adults and others in our state appreciate the impact and opportunity offered by the advanced manufacturing and logistics industries is one of our key areas of focus,” said J. Mark Howell, president and CEO of Conexus Indiana. “By providing thoughtful and conversational events in college towns across the state, we will provide a broader understanding of our key industries and the exciting career opportunities they provide.”
The first event in the series is at Sun King Brewery in Indianapolis on Jan. 24, 2019, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the featured speaker is Clay Robinson, a co-founder of the dynamic beer manufacturer. Robinson will discuss Sun King beer manufacturing and how their beer production has changed with their growth and new technologies, including an investment in new state-of-the-art equipment that allows them to produce a much larger amount of beer each day and manage a more complex supply chain.
