CICP Elects New Executive Committee Members
Tom Linebarger, chairman and CEO, Cummins and CICP Chair INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 14, 2021) – The Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), which brings together the chief executives of the region’s prominent corporations, foundations and universities, has named new executive committee members for 2021. Tom Linebarger, chairman and CEO of Cummins, was elected chair of the board at the December board meeting. Bryan Mills, president and CEO of Community Health Network, will continue to serve as vice chair and has also assumed the role of treasurer. In addition, Sue Ellspermann, president of Ivy Tech Community College, joined the Executive Committee. City, ESN, philanthropic partners announce network pilot to connect Marion County students with high-speed internet in an era of eLearning
INDIANAPOLIS – COVID-19 has forced the closure of Indianapolis schools until early January, but significant numbers of families struggle to access remote instruction because they lack high-speed internet at home. To help bridge this connectivity gap and build toward a comprehensive solution, the City of Indianapolis is helping support the launch of a $1.7 million network pilot to connect students at six public schools with high-speed internet to enable eLearning. If proven successful in the pilot stage, the Marion County Dedicated Network Pilot could be scaled up to serve public school students countywide as soon as early 2022. The City is funding the pilot with $730,000 in federal CARES Act funding, which is dedicated to offsetting the impacts of the pandemic. The Richard M. Groundbreaking statewide research project examining Indiana’s economy and workforce will provide recommendations for improved economic future
INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 19, 2020) -- The Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) is coordinating a groundbreaking statewide research project about the condition of Indiana’s economy and workforce, including the impact of COVID-19 and how regional economies are faring. The Indiana GPS Project is a series of multi-dimensional reports on Indiana’s economy. It is designed to inform public policy and business priorities that will spur economic growth, including recommendations about how to increase the number of good jobs available to Hoosiers. The research project, which began in August 2019, is being spearheaded by CICP and conducted in collaboration with Brookings Institution’s Metropolitan Policy Program and the American Enterprise Institute (AEI). Four reports will be issued between November 2020 and the beginning of 2021. A recent Wall Street Journal (WSJ) article outlines the unusual and extraordinary steps one of CICP's board member companies Eli Lilly and Co. had to take to develop a new antibody-based drug for COVID-19 that has now been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for emergency use. Indiana to Accelerate R&D, Skills Training at New Smart Manufacturing Center in 16 Tech

Local corporate leaders form Business Equity for Indy initiative to address racial inequities in Central Indiana
INDIANAPOLIS – A collection of leaders from the corporate and non-profit communities in Central Indiana have formed the Business Equity for Indy Committee. The committee, a joint venture of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) and Indy Chamber, with support from the Indianapolis Urban League, is comprised of a group of Indianapolis-based corporate leaders committed to advancing a fairer and more inclusive future for the city’s Black population and other peoples of color. Statement: Central Indiana business leaders in support of Governor Holcomb’s mask mandate
Statement of Support: We, leaders from the business community throughout Indiana, endorse Governor Holcomb’s decision to mandate wearing masks in public places for all Hoosiers, effective July 27, 2020, in response to the continuing challenges of COVID-19. All organizations and people in the state have a role to play in mitigating the spread of this dangerous and disruptive disease, which shows few signs of abating. The Governor’s announcement reinforces what many of us are already doing in our own organizations -- requiring the use of masks in the workplace. We are grateful for the Governor’s careful and caring leadership here. This is a prudent step to take to promote everyone’s safety, especially as our youngest citizens prepare to return to school.
