U.S. News: The Worker Retraining Challenge

A recent U.S. News article “The Worker Retraining Challenge” cites a report by the McKinsey Global Institute that Sweden and only a few other countries are prepared to meet the challenges of increasing automation. The report states that millions of jobs worldwide are at risk of being automated by 2030.

“This will require training at the mid-career level at a scale we’ve not seen in this country (the U.S.), or any other country before,” says Susan Lund, a McKinsey partner and one of the study’s co-authors.

Mark Muro, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, says there are a few bright spots in the U.S. which are tackling this problem on a local and regional level and one of those is the CICP talent initiative Ascend Indiana. [READ MORE]
